Eye Candy Media returned to Holland's biggest summer event, the Zomer Carnival, and presented its live and exciting action at a Giant Screen at Coolsingel.
[UKPRwire, Wed Aug 08 2007] Zomer Carnival celebrated its 23rd birthday the last weekend of July together with almost 1 million visitors at the heart of Rotterdam. Eye Candy Media was present by presenting its live footage next to the main stage on Coolsingel on a Giant 20sq.m. Screen.
This extraordinarily colourful event, began in the Netherlands in 1984 as a Caribbean initiative, but has grown in the past years to a multicultural event, where more than 20 different cultures are presented. The cultural, artistic and public value of Zomer Carnival has not remained unnoticed: the past years Zomer Carnival has been rewarded with the Prince Claus Award (2001) and the SponsorRing (2002).
The heart of Zomer Carnival is the unique street parade.In a Caribbean parade of 2 kilometres, the Queens, the colourful dressed groups, individual participants, lavish floats and the music vehicles drive across the city centre of Rotterdam. A number of centuries of Caribbean culture pass by in a few hours. During the presentations, the groups and individual participants from different continents compete with each other for the public attention. Some 3000 costumed dancers, percussionists and gorgeous performers move in choreographed harmony to the non-stop Caribbean rhythms.
Unlike many other 'Miss contests', the Summer Carnival Queen Election isn't only about being beautiful. As ambassador of Zomer Carnival, the Queen represents the festival on several occasions. Therefore eloquence and knowledge of Zomer Carnival and its cultural inheritance are equally important.
