[UKPRwire, Mon Dec 11 2006] Hayward Tyler Group is pleased to announce that its US division, Hayward Tyler Inc., a leading manufacturer of pumps and motors for the power generation, oil, gas and chemical industries, has successfully delivered a Canned Motor Pump (and spare motor) for LP-DMCD (1,4 dimethyl cyclohexanedicarboxylate + dissolved hydrogen) Recycle service.
The $520K order from a Major US Specialty Chemical Manufacturer will increase capacity and reliability of their recycling process. The Specialty Chemical Manufacturer's original process recycled DMCD with 100% saturated H2 at 1850 PSIG up to 500 ºF continuously for 18 month cycles, between catalyst changes. The existing Magnetic Drive could not provide consistent performance and fluid containment reliability.
Hayward Tyler designed a complete high pressure vertical Canned Motor Pump for the application, which included customer specific hydraulics, a double containment walled Canned Motor with hydrodynamic thrust bearing/auxiliary impeller and external heat exchanger. This new design gives a higher capacity pump and a minimum flow purge system to cool the motor and lubricate the bearings.
The result was a purge of clean unsaturated product that prevents saturates from penetrating the rotor and stator cans while the motor circulation system, incorporating the auxiliary impeller, heat exchanger and restriction bushing, minimises the required purge flow into the motor and process.
