Virgin Media selects Digicore Vehicle Tracking

C-track system to be fitted on 1,800 vans within UK installation fleet

[UKPRwire, Thu Oct 08 2009] Virgin Media, the UK entertainment and communications company, has awarded a contract to DigiCore for the provision of an innovative vehicle tracking solution. Under the agreement, 1,800 vans within Virgin Media’s installations operation will be fitted with DigiCore’s C-track system to better manage mobile service teams.

Virgin Media identified a range of potential business, operational and employee benefits following a review of its vehicle tracking system. As a result, Virgin Media has worked in partnership with DigiCore to develop a bespoke solution that will provide a range of benefits including increased duty of care and enhanced driver support.

The C-track system utilises satellite navigation-enabled PDAs and will provide a flexible job allocation solution that enables Virgin Media to identify and select the most suitable service team to ensure the most effective use of mobile assets.

An important aspect of the solution was the necessity to protect the privacy of mobile employees outside of working hours. As a result, the system will incorporate an in-vehicle switch to change between business and private mileage, providing a means for drivers to record mileage but remove visibility of private mileage if they use the vehicle for personal use. Furthermore, the associated reporting package will be configured to cover business time only.
