[UKPRwire, Fri Jan 26 2007] Senior business people polled across the UK are already planning their corporate hospitality for London 2012 Olympics, with 354,000 planning to attend. Over 50% of businesses in London say they will attend (75,000 businesses) and 25% outside of London (279,000 businesses), according to Continental Research.

With over five years yet to go, the business community is already backing the Games, with 81% in London and 77% nationwide believing they will have a positive impact on East London.

Continental Research, which polled 991 UK adults and 500 senior business people, also found that:

• The majority of UK adults (72%) believe it will have a positive impact on East London. Encouragingly those living in London are almost equally positive (68%).
• With less than one third (29%) of adults and only half (51%) of their children take part in sport so it will be interesting to see if the Games encourage people to leave their couch potato habits behind
• Intentions to view the games on TV are high (73%) and one tenth (12%) of us plan to attend (rising to 17% amongst Londoners).
• Currently the nation does not typically associate East London with the 2012 Games. In fact from a list of 11 associations it is ranked in fifth place after Eastenders, The Krays, Canary Wharf, The Dome and West Ham Football club! But ahead of lesser associations including Jack the Ripper, Docklands Light Railway, Jellied Eels, Pearly Queens and Oliver Twist.
• Amongst Londoners, the 2012 Games were more strongly associated with East London – it was ranked in 3rd place after Eastenders and Canary Wharf.
