NEW INVENTION FOR MOTORISTS COULD REDUCE ACCIDENTS AND SAVE LIVES

[UKPRwire, Fri Jun 08 2007] OnSide, a new product developed by Inventor-Net’s Nigel Chute - which could save lives and reduce road accidents - has been successfully launched, and Nigel is now looking for potential investors and partners. OnSide is an innovative new road safety product; a simple black self-adhesive plastic strap is attached to the steering wheel of the car, designed to remind a driver to drive on the correct side of the road. Yellow chevrons point in the correct direction, reminding the driver of the correct side to drive on, especially when driving in an unfamiliar country.

Nigel, who was recently appointed to the panel of Inventor-Net, created and supported by Atkinson & Company in partnership with FixedFeeIP, cannot stop inventing. Even though he is busy advising new inventors on how to bring their products to market successfully, he continues to come up with new ideas himself. Nigel is again utilising the services of Atkinson & Company for his OnSide product; Atkinson & Company have filed a patent application for the invention and are very optimistic about the product’s chances of success.

“Driving habits often become second nature; therefore changing them can cause some confusion, especially when one drives at a busy junction, in a traffic jam or in poor weather conditions in a foreign country. OnSide can save a life and definitely prevent many accidents,” says Nigel, who once ended up on the wrong side of the road while driving in Denmark - fortunately without fatal results.
OnSide can be fastened on both sides of the steering wheel for successful use either by the British travelling through Europe or America, or by left-hand side drivers visiting the UK.
OnSide is not Nigel’s first invention supported by Atkinson & Company. He started his co-operation with the Sheffield-based patent attorney company over 15 years ago, having patented Flexi-tip Sealant Smoother – a device to smooth household sealants, which is now winning the market.
“Our extensive experience proves that a patent can be a commercial tool in itself,” says Ralph Atkinson, managing director of Atkinson & Company. “As well as protecting your valuable invention against copying or passing-off, it can also make your business much more attractive to potential suitors.” he adds.
