[UKPRwire, Wed Aug 18 2010] The organisers of the annual Plastics Industry Awards 2010 have announced the shortlist of this year’s awards, which will be held at the London Hilton Hotel on Park Lane on Friday 1st October 2010.
Enjoying its 10th year as a social and business highlight of the UK plastics industry, this year’s awards will be presented by Millie Clode, Sky Sports News anchor and co-host of prime time ITV game show The Colour of Money. The evening’s entertainment also includes Perrier award-winning comedian and actor Milton Jones and Kelly Dixon, who will sing with her band at the after-dinner party.
The Plastics Industry Awards is the industry’s most prestigious awards initiative, recognising, celebrating and encouraging achievement throughout the UK plastics industry. The awards offer an insight into current developments in materials usage, product design and innovative manufacturing as well as identifying excellence in training and environmental performance. Entries have come from all sectors of the industry, highlighting a wide range of novel solutions. Shortlisted companies this year include Rosti UK, Engel and Polypipe, Hi-Technology Group, Distrupol and Gabriel-Chemie.
Shortlisted entrants for the Consumer Product Design of the Year are:
• 3form Design for the Wean Machine
• Apeks Marine Equipment for the Flight scuba regulator
• Hothouse Product Development for the Yoomi self heating baby bottle
• Smallfry for the Powerbreathe portable breathing trainers
Shortlisted entrants for the Industrial Product Design of the Year are:
• Kinneir Dufort for the Bristol Maid easy clean bedside cabinet
• Pips Technology for the P392 Spikelet injection moulded ANPR camera
• Trig Creative for the Ritchey EID Autotagger system
“The very high standard of entries for the tenth annual Plastics Industry Awards is testament to the fact that UK companies still lead the world in many aspects of plastics design, moulding and manufacture,” said Steve Crowhurst, organiser.
The awards were open to all companies involved in the UK plastics industry including OEM manufacturers, processors and consultants. Each award had different qualifying criteria.
A shortlist and finalists for the Agentdraw Young Designer Award being run in association with the Plastics Industry Awards will be announced later.
