CIVIC DONATES IPAD TO JCI EDINBURGH SOCIAL MEDIA ACADEMY

Digital communications agency CIVIC has announced it is to give away an iPad to one lucky student of the JCI Edinburgh Social Media Academy, which launches this evening/tomorrow.

[UKPRwire, Fri Sep 03 2010] Digital communications agency CIVIC has announced it is to give away an iPad to one lucky student of the JCI Edinburgh Social Media Academy, which launches this evening/tomorrow.

Sponsored by CIVIC, the academy brings together the cream of Edinburgh’s digital media talent to share their wisdom over seven teaching sessions. It is a volunteer project coordinated by the Edinburgh branch of Junior Chamber International and aims to get its members to start using social media effectively in their businesses and social lives.

Participants will be encouraged to practice using all of their new skills to promote a business throughout the duration of the course. At the end of the block, CIVIC will present the iPad to the person who has generated the most activity for their chosen organisation.

Greig Tosh, CIVIC’s Managing Director, says: “We want to encourage people to practice using their new tools and skills so I hope that the opportunity to win an iPad will be a great incentive. Social media is constantly changing so it’s important to practice and engage with others online to make sure that you and your business don’t get left behind.”

The interactive sessions are focussed on using social media to succeed in business and the series opens with a seminar on Twitter lead by Hannah Gibson of internet marketing agency, Attacat. She will be joined by J F Derry, author of Darwin in Scotland, and Victoria Raimes, a journalist who will share her experiences of using Twitter to find news and make connections.

CIVIC’s digital media experts Darcie Tanner and Jonathan Melville will also be leading sessions on Facebook and YouTube in September and October.
