Blueberry Celebrates Regional Business Award

Blueberry Software Limited has been highly commended at the coveted ICT Excellence Awards 2008, held at the Birmingham Motorcycle Museum.

[UKPRwire, Wed Nov 26 2008] Birmingham-based company, Blueberry Software Limited, has been highly commended at the coveted ICT Excellence Awards 2008, held at the Birmingham Motorcycle Museum.

Blueberry was honoured in the ‘Best Innovative Product Award’ category and presented a certificate for its BB Flashback 2.0 software – a technology which it has licensed worldwide to major global companies.

BB FlashBack 2.0 is a state-of-the-art desktop screen recorder which allows a demonstrator to record the screen of your computer whilst carrying out the task, which can then be played back and a webcam/soundtrack added to help anyone who wants to watch and understand the process being demonstrating. This makes it ideal as a teaching aid for use anywhere and at any time.

BB FlashBack can be used for a range of applications, including:

• To demonstrate an application or service.
• To produce ‘how-to’ films (for example, how to use a specific computer program feature).
• To create narrated demonstrations – this is particularly useful as software becomes more complex, allowing users, reviewers and developers to share their understanding. Because screen recorders capture every detail of software interaction, the software can be of great interest to interaction designers, as a way to observe the micro-behaviour of their program users (the wandering around with the mouse pointer, looking for menus and particular functions, etc.) so that they can improve their product.
• To produce a screen-recorder-enhanced video - to illustrate a particular point in a conventional digital video demonstration
• For Sales and Marketing professionals wanting to create demonstration videos for their customers
• By teachers and trainers wanting to develop engaging tutorials
• By students needing to evidence coursework
• By website and flash developers needing to create flash video quickly and easily
• Home PC users who want to distribute on-screen content and record creation of computer art, photo and design projects

Martin Green, managing director of Blueberry Software Limited, said: “We have invested a lot of time and effort to get the product right, and to be nominated by the ICT Cluster is a testament to our success.

“As a small Midlands company, we are competing against the titans of the IT world, yet we are securing worldwide sales in the region of $400,000 per annum.

“We hope the success of our products on the world market will show what regional companies like ours can achieve.”

Mike Musson, ICT Cluster Manager, added: “This year we've seen the highest standard of award entries yet and competition has been incredibly tough. The judging process has been rigorous and the panel faced a major challenge in deciding the final winners due to the sheer quality, innovation and excellent service provided by all the finalists. The awards are testament to the quality and diversity among technology companies in the West Midlands region.”

The ICT Excellence Awards were presented at the evening Awards event following the Annual ICT Cluster Conference held at Birmingham Motorcycle Museum on 20 November 2008.
