For organisations that require the high levels of resilience that RAID 6 provides for Information Systems, LapiStor Ltd today launched a new family of high-performance and cost-effective data storage solutions.
“These products, which enable systems to keep running normally - despite the loss of more than one drive - will be of special interest to companies who do not totally trust SATA technology and want the extra security of SCSI or Fibre.” explained Tony Howard, Managing Director of LapiStor.
Featuring a new ASIC and 4GB Fibre Channel host connection, these products extend the company’s RAID Level 6 solutions, providing the fastest Fibre infrastructure.
The new products comprise the DPaa-7424 (FC and SCSI host), DPaa-7316 (FC and SCSI host) and DPz -7212f (FC host), all of which have up to 2GB of Cache Memory.
Top of the range is the DPaa-7424, which is a 24bay, 4U solution, featuring SATA-II drive channels and a SCSI or Fibre Channel interface on the host side (plus a Redundant controller as well).
The mid-range product is the DPaa-7316, which is a 16bay, 3U solution, featuring SATA-II drive channels and SCSI or Fibre Channel interfaces on the host side.
The foundation product in this new family is the DPz-7212f , which is a 12 bay, 2U solution, featuring SATA-II and SAS drive channels and a 4GB Fibre Channel interface on the host side (with a Redundant controller as well).
These latest additions to the product range complement the existing DPaa-3T05s, DPaa-5316s (SCSI host) and DPaa-5316f2 (FC host) solutions – all of which have SATA-II drive channels.
The DPaa-3T05s is an entry-level product and a desktop solution.
The DPaa-5316s features 16 SATA-II drive bays, with up to eight Terabytes of storage capacity, in a compact 3U enclosure. It also offers multiple-host configuration options, such as dual Ultra 320 SCSI and dual 2GBit Fibre Channel host connections, providing RAID level 6 protection.
For ease of installation, operation and maintenance, modular, hot-swappable active components are incorporated to minimise the possibility of downtime. The use of dual host channels further minimises the risks of downtime. In addition, hot swap cooling fan modules guard the product from overheating and hot swap redundant power supply units ensure steady operation of the system.
