Last minute scramble for gifts eased by UK’s first seaplane airline
Seaplane airline solves panic of last minute Christmas shopping
[UKPRwire, Fri Dec 22 2006] Last minute Christmas shopping is literally taking off after Britain’s only commercial seaplane service decided to keep selling tickets right up to midnight on Christmas Eve.
Loch Lomond Seaplanes is offering the chance to book flights over some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery right up to the last possible moment.
It is estimated that around 30 per cent per cent of men and up to 20 per cent of women leave end shopping for presents until Christmas Eve and are then filled with panic with what to get.
We’ve had so many people booking on-line or over the telephone this year that we have decided to keep the office open to the last possible minute – 11.59pm on Sunday night,” said Captain David West.
”A lot of people are looking to get something different but without having to endure the stress and strain of battling through the crowded shops.
”We can e-mail confirmation of a booking with minutes so that people can present a gift token on Christmas Day for any one of our scenic flights which can be taken later in the year.”
Loch Lomond Seaplanes recently announced plans to start flying passengers direct to the Highlands and islands in the New Year from the Clyde in the centre of Glasgow.
As Europe’s only seaplane service operating from a city centre the new flights will mean that destinations such as Arran, Bute, Oban and Tobermoray can be reached from Glasgow within minutes rather than hours.
