[UKPRwire, Thu Oct 05 2006] Global warming is believed to be caused by an overall change in the balance of gases produced by the planet. The reduction of rainforests causes less oxygen to be produced, and other man-caused factors such as high production of hydro-carbons and reduction of the ozone layer are considered to be other key contributors.
The Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest is one of the most bio-diverse forests in the world, with as many as 450 species of tree per hectare. Today, less than 7% of this amazing wonder of nature remains.
In 2005, the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest Trust (BART) contributed to the planting of 8,000 new trees, and aims to plant a further 8,500 by the end of 2006.
