School children in the UK can now learn key life skills and improve their prospects online

[UKPRwire, Tue Jan 23 2007] School children in the UK can now learn key life skills and improve their prospects online.

Newcastle-based company Indigo Multimedia Ltd has produced the first online version of an internationally successful educational resource – The Real Game.

Originally developed in Canada, The Real Game was only available to schools in paper format.

Commissioned by Prospects Services Ltd, Indigo Multimedia Ltd developed the first online version of The Real Game, which has been launched in UK schools.

“We worked closely with Prospects, to create an exciting interactive online version of The Real Game,” said Andrew Graney, web director at Indigo Multimedia Ltd.

“The Real Game is already well known around the world so our challenge was to maintain the brand identity, key structure and elements of the game, whilst creating a new look and feel.”

To do this the team created a central character, R.Com, who guides players through The Real Game.

“We wanted to make the learning process fun, stimulating and engaging for pupils,” explained Andrew. “R.Com guides pupils through 15 lessons on The Real Game helping them make education and career choices and preparing them for the challenges of adult life.”

The Real Game also includes an area for teachers to help them use the resource in a flexible and adaptable way.
“Teachers can customise The Real Game to make it geographically relevant to their area,” explained Andrew.

Lesley Bailey, project manager at Prospects said: “The team at Indigo Multimedia Ltd has considerable experience in developing interactive educational resources and this e-learning version of The Real Game is unique.

“Over 200 schools in the UK have registered to use The Real Game and there is already interest to customise it for countries overseas."
