[UKPRwire, Mon Jan 11 2010] The last decade has seen numerous fashion trends, some good and some, well, not so good. Here Models Direct reviews just a few of the notable trends, from the bandwagons to the fashion disasters, – sure to bring back some memories!
The footwear. The 2000s have seen the arrival of two major footwear trends: Crocs and Uggs. Both have their practicalities, Crocs are comfortable and great for kids and Ugg boots are warm and cosy, but they have both also been deemed serious fashion no-nos.
Jeans. How could any of us live without a pair (or six) of jeans? Versatile and comfy, jeans have become a fashion staple over the last ten years. However, the styles have changed dramatically from ‘00 to ‘09. At the beginning of the decade, jeans were to be worn big and baggy with styles slimming down over the years into the skinny style popular today. Look out next year for the return of 80s acid wash styles and denim on denim ensembles.
Leggings. Most women will own at least a couple of pairs of leggings at the moment! They’re comfy, cosy and perfect to wear with dresses. When leggings first made a comeback around 2004 they were plain and practical but now leather, sequinned and denim styles have been proving popular, a popularity that looks to continue!
Watch the waistlines. Trousers at the beginning of the 2000s were worn low, with both young men and women showing off their underwear (thank goodness that trend has gone!) Over the years the fashion for waistlines has gone up and up, with many women embracing high-waisted trousers, skirts and shorts.
Big sunglasses. Thanks to celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, bug-eye sunglasses that cover most of your face became popular. At the end of the decade sunglass trends have changed to the vintage Rayban Wayfarer and John Lennon/Harry Potter round-rimmed styles.
