DirectRooms.com – Bollywood Baraat comes to Southtampton on 21 May 2011

DirectRooms.com can announce that after ten months of hard work Art Asia, in partnership with City Eye, the Nuffield Theatre and the Jogn Hansard Gallery, will present Bollywood Baraat. The film combines authentic Bollywood flavour with the sights and beauty of Southampton.

[UKPRwire, Fri Apr 08 2011] The set-up for the story is simple: a boy meets a girl, they fall in love and plan to get married. Things get more complicated when the wedding procession, or Baraat, learns that the wedding may be off. Interspersed with song and dance numbers in true Bollywood style, Bollywood Baraat is a performance no one will be able to forget.

All are invited to attend the outdoor screening and performance in the Southampton city centre on Saturday, 21st May. The film is pre-filmed, but this piece is also partly performed live. It was created by the people of Southampton in locations throughout their hometown. A hotel in Southampton can place film goers near to both the screening and live performance, and many of the iconic sites that appear in the film.

The leaders of the project, along with their partners, local schools, universities and community groups, spent 2010 creating a series of one-off projects delving into the world of Bollywood film. They also focused on weddings across different cultural traditions. These two broad themes have come together to create Bollywood Baraat.

The creative team worked with locals to create a Bollywood-inspired story that includes a specially commissioned script, soundtrack and fantastic choreography. It focuses heavily on the experiences of British Asians living in Southampton in modern times.
