[UKPRwire, Thu Nov 05 2009] Fivium is pleased to announce that they have been awarded the EEMS Enhancement Development project, due to be delivered in early 2010.
Anthony Ashton, Director at Fivium said: “Fivium is excited to be working on the EEMS contract with Collabro. The new enhancements to EEMS will provide a streamlined interface whilst allowing greater flexibility to respond to changes in government legislation.”
EEMS is the Environmental and Emissions Monitoring System for the Department of Energy and Climate Change. It provides measured and calculated data relating to emissions from offshore installations and associated onshore terminals. The system is managed by Collabro and is accessible to Government, through the Department of Energy and Climate Change and the Oil and Gas industry, through Oil & Gas UK.
The system operates an effective policy for reporting on the environmental impact of its activities. It is a focal point for all parties with an interest in environmental issues in the oil and gas industry.
EEMS is an important step in helping the industry monitor environmental emissions and meet its targets that limit and reduce pollution.
Gwen Moran, EEMS Contract Manager of Collabro said: “on behalf of the EEMS Governance Board we were delighted to award Fivium with the development contract for the EEMS Enhancement. Fivium’s development project was presented in a smart way and met the timescales required. The EEMS team at Collabro are looking forward to working with Fivium, building on the experience from the current system.”
Stewart Robinson, Head of IT, Oil and Gas, DECC, said “Integrating the EEMS enhancement into the UK Oil Portal is an elegant and smart solution. This will allow greater integration and ease of use across the industry.”
Notes
1.EEMS is the Environmental and Emissions Monitoring System for the Department of Energy and Climate Change to which operators in the UKCS must make statutory returns.
All oil companies who are active in the North Sea are obliged to make regular environmental returns to DECC. Some of these returns are monitoring returns based upon consents previously issued by DECC. Environmental legislation, particularly that relating to the European Union, changes regularly and the subsequent reporting requirements are a moving target. DECC decided to enhance the current EEMS to resolve these issues and to include new enhanced requirements.
