International Wine Challenge - Largest Wine Competition in the World Announces Medal Winning Wines Live at ExCeL, Tuesday 22 May 2007
[UKPRwire, Sat May 19 2007] Judging for the 2007 International Wine Challenge (IWC) is complete. The 400 judges from 19 countries and the 5 IWC co-chairmen have finished their marathon tasting. Almost 9,400 wines from 35 countries were entered into this year’s competition including more organic wines, more English wines and many more Japanese sakes than ever before. This is undoubtedly the most comprehensive search for the greatest wines in the world.
Despite being the most influential wine competition in the world, the IWC is down to earth. Assessed blind, each wine is judged entirely on its own merit. A wine from a small, independent producer on the outer edge of the wine producing universe has as much opportunity as a big corporation with vast resources. Winning an IWC medal can make the reputation of a wine.
Medal winners will be announced live at the (trade only) London International Wine & Spirits Fair on Tuesday 22 May at 10.30 am. At the unveiling of the stand all of the UK based IWC co-chairmen - Charles Metcalfe, Derek Smedley MW, Tim Atkin MW, Sam Harrop MW - will be commenting on the results.
