Llanllyr Water at the British Sports Book Awards

It was award winning premium water brand Llanllyr Source’s turn to hand out the prizes at the 2007 British Sports Book Awards.

[UKPRwire, Mon Jun 04 2007] The worlds of Sport and Literature shared a podium at this year’s annual British Sports Book Awards, held at London’s prestigious Café Royal and hosted by the National Sporting Club.

Now in its fifth year, the 2007 awards were the largest and most competitive to date. The book that won the ‘Best Illustrated’ category was ‘1966 Uncovered: The Unseen Story of the World Cup in England’ by Peter Robinson and Doug Cheeseman. Mark Swanwick, chairman of exclusive water brand Llanllyr Source, presented the award to the winners along with football legend George Cohen, who played right-back for England when England won the World Cup in 1966.

Field of Dreams
For the first time, Llanllyr Source was the official sponsor of the ‘Best Illustrated Title’ category. Llanllyr Water’s chairman, Mark Swanwick explains: “We were pleased to have the opportunity to be involved in such a worthwhile event. The ethos of the occasion ties in well with our own brand values at Llanllyr; those of healthy lifestyles, clarity and energy. The ability to convey the excitement and drama of sport using the written word is a great talent and we will definitely consider sponsoring the event next year.”

Half time refreshments
Llanllyr not only sponsored the event, its water was served at a VIP awards luncheon following the presentation ceremony, whose assembled guests were drawn from the worlds of football and sports media, including Tommy Docherty, Graham Le Saux and BBC Radio Five Live’s Mark Pougatch, who was also on the judging panel. Llanllyr, which was voted Best Soft Drink last month by Class Magazine, is an ideal partner for food because of the clean, pure taste of the still water and the soft carbonation of the sparkling variety.
ENDS.

information for editors:
Llanllyr Source is one of the UK’s fastest-growing premium water brands. Drawn from organically certified land in West Wales, the natural wells have been farmed by the same family since 1720, although they were providing drinking water to a Cistercian nunnery that owned the fields as far back as 1180. Today Llanllyr is famed for its clean taste, modern design and extremely low mineral content that site the water firmly in the ‘pure’ natural mineral water category. The range includes both still and softly carbonated sparkling water in 330ml and 750ml size variants. Llanllyr has distribution in the UK, US, Canada and Continental Europe.
