The UK’s Most Pre-eminent Wine Experts Unveil Medal Winning Wines in Grand Cru Style 10.30am at ExCeL, Tuesday 22 May 2007
[UKPRwire, Mon May 21 2007] After two weeks holed up in The Barbican, sampling almost 9,400 different wines, stars of the wine world, International Wine Challenge Chairmen Charles Metcalfe, Tim Atkin MW, Derek Smedley MW and Sam Harrop MW emerge to unveil the 2007 medal winners. The announcement will take place in grand style at the London Wine & Spirit Fair at ExCeL. The display of medal winning wines will be encapsulated by a giant white box which will be raised in front of the expectant wine trade at precisely 10.30 am on Tuesday 23 May.
"In terms of building a reputation, the UK is the most important market in the world" explains Sam Harrop MW. “Every producer is desperate to get distribution here.”
All the UK’s major wine retailers are vying to have their skilful and price-conscious wine buying rewarded whilst home-grown wine makers hope to see more of their wines placed on this ultimate wine list than ever before. During the press call, the wine-maker who created the top ranking English wine will learn of his success.
TV cameras, press photographers and reporters are invited to attend. Media will need a pass to enter the fair and should report to Susana Irving at Door S5 for 10.15 am.
All four chairmen will be available for interviews at the photo-call.
Winning an IWC medal can make the reputation of a wine and a winemaker.
