Satelliet-Browns Design Challengehas ‘dream prize’

Satelliet-Browns, leading furniture supplier to the leisure industry has announced that this year's Student Design Challenge will be bigger and better than ever, with the winner seeing their design for a lounge bar become reality at the Bar 09 licensed trade show

[UKPRwire, Fri Mar 06 2009] Satelliet-Browns’ Student Design Challenge is back for Bar 09, and this year’s competition is bigger and better than ever.

As always the winning design student will see their work transformed into reality as the Designers Bar at the show, one of the main networking lounges for designers, architects, suppliers as well as pub and club owners.

But this year’s winner will also be given the chance to work with Mitchell Refurbishments on a real-life nightclub and bar which they are developing in conjunction with Nova Design Partnership.

Harvey Ockrim, Satelliet-Browns Managing Director said: “Just when everyone thought our Student Design Challenge couldn’t get any better, it just has.

“This event is already recognised by universities and colleges as the leading opportunity for their students who are the up-and-coming talent in modern bar design, to showcase their design skills.

“Now the winner will have the opportunity to work with Mitchell Refurbishments, one of the country’s leading specialists in creating and refurbishing bars, pubs, clubs, restaurants and night clubs, as well as the exciting and dynamic Nova Design Partnership.

“That is a dream come true for any interior design student hoping to make a name for themselves in this industry.”

Jonathan Boys of Mitchell Refurbishments who will help judge the competition and also build the Designers Bar said: “We are really looking forward to viewing all the entries and working closely with the winning student.”

The competition is open to interior design students from all over the UK.

This year the brief includes designing a lounge bar area to seat 40 to 50 people. Some of the biggest names in UK Bar Design are among the judges – in the past they have included Paul Daly, Shaun Clarkson, Rock Galpin and Matt Rawlinson.

Entries must be submitted by March 31, 2009. Full details of the competition, are available on Satelliet-Browns’ web site: www.satelliet-browns.co.uk Visit www.barshow.co.uk for details of Bar09
