[UKPRwire, Tue Oct 30 2007] Award winning chef Steven Butler has added another accolade to his growing list of achievements by scooping Bedford College's Outstanding Programme Award in hospitality and catering, and will receive his award at a special ceremony in November.
Steven was motivated to develop his culinary skills after winning awards in the Conference Centres of Excellence Chefs' Challenge for two consecutive years. He embarked on an NVQ level 3 course in hospitality supervision, but he also wanted to develop his skills in more creative areas of gastronomy. A talented watercolour artist, Steven was drawn to the course in cake decoration as a perfect platform for his talents, and it must have been the right decision, because after just one year, Steven received the award for the student demonstrating outstanding achievement.
"Being creative is one of the main reasons I enjoy being a chef, but now I can take creativity in the kitchen to another level. I can put my own individual style on my work and that makes it very rewarding." said Steven. "Everybody at Wyboston Lakes has been very supportive, but to win this award really is the icing on the cake."
Wyboston Lakes' Head chef, Fergus Martin added, "We're absolutely delighted with Steven's achievements. He has always shown passion and pride in his work, and with the artistic flair he has clearly demonstrated, it adds yet another string to our bow in providing the highest service to our clients."
Steven has also developed a real taste for competitions and has entered the Sugarcraft and Cake Decoration Show at NEC in November, and the National Wedding Show at Olympia next year.
Editor's notes:
Wyboston Lakes is set in a 350-acre rural site near St Neots, midway between Cambridge and Bedford and is the largest privately owned conference venue in northern Europe. It is the only UK site that offers three different conference venues and two standards of service. The Robinson Executive Conference Centre is the premier award-winning venue, being a previous winner of The World of Learning Training Venue of the Year Award, offering the highest quality facilities with the service to match. The Waterfront Conference Centre, formerly known as The Lakes Centre, and The Willows, a specialist training centre, both provide superb facilities and service at very competitive rates.
