The third annual Sparks Race Day, supported by Avanta, raised more than £10,000 for the children’s medical research charity, whose sole remit is to fund research across the whole spectrum of paediatric medicine.
The Sparks Race Day, held at Kempton Park race course on September 21st attracted a large number of guests, VIPs and sports personalities, such as BBC presenter John Inverdale and snooker ace John Virgo, as well as Michael Scudamore who provided guests with racings tips. Champion jockey Ryan Moore and the effervescent Frankie Dettori MBE were just some of the top name jockeys taking part in the action packed seven race event.
“Sparks supports some of the most important medical research being undertaken today into childhood illnesses and so it was great to see that the charity Race Day was so well attended.” comments Avanta’s Managing Director, David Alberto. “2009 has been a tough year for everybody, but this event was such a fantastic day out as well as providing much needed funds for an exceedingly worthwhile charity.
“Whilst there were plenty of winners on the track, the real winners were the kids who rely on Sparks and the doctors the charity funds to produce the cures and improved treatments for so many childhood illnesses.”
