Protective Bed Canopies Could Help Eliminate Insomnia and Promote Healthier Sleep

Specialised reflective bed canopies can help shield people from electromagnetic radiation emitted by mobile phone masts and wireless devices, improving sleep patterns and cutting symptoms of depression and headaches

[UKPRwire, Tue Sep 29 2009] A new range of reflective bed and cot canopies from Wireless-Protection.org have been launched to shield people’s sleeping environments from electromagnetic radiation emitted by mobile phone masts and wireless devices, helping those suffering from insomnia and restless nights to have a healthier, more refreshing nights sleep.

Using technology which reflects the electromagnetic radiation or radiofrequency radiation (RFR) produced by masts and wireless devices, the canopies drastically reduce the amount of radiation a person is exposed to. This is claimed to help those sensitive to RFR to have better-quality sleep and to overcome symptoms of fatigue, headaches, irritability and depression, which are often associated with insomnia and disturbed sleep patterns.

The protective canopies are available in four sizes, catering for standard beds and babies’ cots. They are simply hung above the bed or cot to give a greater source of protection by providing shielding from Electro Magnetic fields, creating a safer sleeping environment for the whole family.

Glynn Hughes, Wireless-Protection.org founder and developer of the canopies, said: “People are blaming many things for their inexplicable inability to sleep, and there is often an obvious candidate for their insomnia. During the last five years there has been an explosion in wireless technology which scientist have linked to the growing problem of disturbed sleep.

“Some people complain to me that they just can’t sleep, but more commonly, they sleep but don’t feel refreshed, and it was only after some of my clients came to me seeking help to shield out the RFR from mobile phone masts and neighbours’ wireless communications, that we developed the range of bed canopies. For many years scientists have been warning that the microwave radiation emitted by the many wireless devices and networks may be hazardous, and that younger people may be in more danger. As parents ourselves we recognise the need parents have to protect their children so we decided to produce the smaller version of the reflective canopy to help protect children and babies from RFR too.”

A series of surveys from 2002 onwards by Santini et al, Oberfeld et al and Bortkiewicz et al, of people living near mobile phone masts found high levels of headaches, sleep disturbance, irritability, memory problems and depression.

Glynn continues: “What has been striking is that even low levels of RFR such as those that exist at home are disrupting sleep patterns, and although we won’t know the full effects of this pollution until more research is carried out, people should do what they can to at least reduce the levels of RFR in their sleeping areas.”

According to Wireless Protection a new advisory leaflet for parents expected from the UK Department of Health (DH), is also cause for concern. The leaflet, which removes all safety advice on imposing limits on childrens’ use of mobiles, contradicts recommendations from the Austrian Ministry of Health.

The new recommendations, which came out in July 2009, is based on a new study commissioned by the Austrian AUVA (Government health insurance department) from Vienna Medical University, and advises extreme caution in children’s’ mobile phone use. The advice warns that mobile phone usage causes not just ‘heating’ of cells, but also increases protein production – seen in neurodegenerative disorders – and can cause DNA breaks, which is linked to development of cancers. The cells most susceptible to mobile phone radiation are those that are most metabolically active – i.e., in children and young people.

The current official advice from the UK DH is that mobile use can affect brain activity, and there are 'significant gaps' in knowledge of the health effects, however, the draft of the new leaflet removes all safety recommendations, saying that no extra precautions need to be taken by children.

The Adult canopies are priced from £400 (including VAT) with children’s starting at £99.95 and are available to order direct from www.wireless-protection.org or by phone on 01772 614177.

About Wireless-Protection.org

Wireless-Protection.org is a UK company that helps individuals and organisations identify and reduce the impact of electromagnetic (EM) pollution on health and well-being.

A growing body of research-based and anecdotal evidence shows that EM pollution can be a health hazard. Sources of EM including mobile phone and microwave radio masts, electricity pylons, and poor quality electric power sources (Dirty Electricity) can induce a range of symptoms including fatigue, disturbed sleep, chronic headaches, anxiety, depression, skin problems and may also be linked to forms of diabetes.

The company was founded by Lancashire-based telecoms and electronics specialist Glynn Hughes, when his daughter began experiencing unexplained symptoms on moving to a new school that had a mobile phone mast on its roof.

Glynn became closely involved in the campaign to remove the mast, and began to research the effects of EM radiation from various sources on health and wellbeing.

He has assembled and developed a range of solutions for detecting EM pollution and shielding against its effects, which are available directly from the company’s website.

The company designs many of its own solutions for the UK and international markets, and also provides consultancy and education services on EM pollution and its reduction. Visit www.wireless-protection.org
