Tamworth Health Visitor nominated for Inaugural Award

A popular Tamworth health visitor who pioneered a premature baby community support scheme has been shortlisted for an ‘Individual Excellence Award’.

[UKPRwire, Thu Aug 27 2009] Janine McKnight, has been a health visitor for South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) for the last nine years. Learning about the short listing this week, Janine said: “I’m really delighted to have been put forward for this award. It was a complete shock.

“I’ve worked in the NHS for the last 32 years and absolutely love my job, working with clients on a one-to-one basis and helping them and their families is something that I really enjoy.

“No two days are the same in health visiting, my day can vary from clinical duties right through to project development. Having the ability and creativity to make a difference to people’s lives brings out the best in me as a clinician.

South Staffordshire PCT launched the Patients’ Choice – Quality and Excellence Awards in April and received nearly 100 nominations from patients and the public in South Staffordshire who had identified quality of care and sheer excellence of service and wanted to recognise this by nominating staff, carers and members of the public who have contributed to health and social care locally.

A panel of judges consisting of 5 independent representatives had the difficult job of selecting the shortlist within the six categories which will now go forward to the Awards ceremony in September.

The ceremony will be held on September 9 at the Staffordshire County Showground in Stafford.
