The London School of Traditional Massage (LSTM) is holding a Thai Massage & Thai Foot Massage course in Thailand, which will help local people who suffered the devastating effects of the Tsunami last year, by giving them the opportunity to rebuild their lives through, otherwise expensive, free vocational training.
[UKPRwire, Thu Mar 02 2006] The London School of Traditional Massage (LSTM) is holding a Thai Massage & Thai Foot Massage course in Thailand, which will help local people who suffered the devastating effects of the Tsunami last year, by giving them the opportunity to rebuild their lives through, otherwise expensive, free vocational training. The course will be a scholarship programme where for every Westerner attending, a Thai will be given a free place. The School Principal, Simon Gall, has trained extensively in Thailand and will be assisted on the course by some of his Thai national Massage teachers.
The course is to be limited to 10 Westerners with 10 Thai students selected by Jessica, a volunteer worker at the North Andaman Tsunami Relief (NATR), to compliment their ongoing Community Based Tourism (CBT) and Vocational Training Programmes.
The course is to be held in a purpose built Thai style Yoga Sala, part funded by LSTM using local labour and materials, on the edge of Khao Sok National Park. Accommodation will be provided at Our Jungle House in a variety of Traditional Dwellings all equipped with Western style toilets and showers. (see attached photo)
Our Jungle House is situated in a unique and beautiful location alongside the Sok River that flows beside a breathtaking Karst mountain (see attached photos).
It is surrounded by primary forestry remaining on the property, which makes it truly exceptional and creates ultimate privacy, comfort and tranquillity.
Many consider the Khao Sok National Park to be one of the most beautiful national parks in Thailand. The pristine, moist evergreen forest abounds with wildlife and fascinating plants. The park provides an adventure for botanists, environmentalists, naturalists or anyone interested in exploring plant and wildlife in a rain forest.
Our Jungle House sits on the edge of the park. While you are here you can enjoy many of the exciting activities that Our Jungle House offers which include:

· Canoe trips
· Night safaris
· Lake tours, day or overnight
· Tubing down the Klong Sok river
LSTM feels this is an excellent opportunity to train in an exceptional form of massage in a beautiful and exotic location, gain a recognised qualification in Thai Massage and Thai Foot Massage, and help local people rebuild a sustainable way of life in line with their culture.
The cost for the course, including accommodation (throughout the duration of the course), but excluding flights, is £750 per person. The course has been timed to finish as The Song Kran Festival (Thai New Year) begins on the 13th April.
The course is open to anyone, however to become a qualified Thai Massage therapist and practice professionally students will need to be previously qualified in Anatomy & Physiology and Swedish Body Massage. LSTM have courses in these beginning in February 2006.
