Whilst traditional baby breathing monitors work solely in the home, the Repsisense Buzz monitors wherever baby is asleep; at home, in a pushchair, in a car or even on holiday, giving parents unprecedented levels of reassurance and freedom. The new monitor is being launched by Baby Sleep Shop, a store specialising in baby sleeping products.
The Respisense Buzz has no wires, cables or straps and uses miniaturised technology to monitor babies wherever they are. If breathing effort ceases the monitor automatically operates internal audio and visual alarms.
Additionally, the monitor features the unique TummyTickle(TM) patented breathing stimulator. If breathing ceases the unit will automatically stimulate (“tickle”) the infant to encourage breathing to restart. The technique of “tickling” a baby is universally recognised as an effective method to restart breathing and is used in neonatal wards for cases of Infantile Apnoea (Infantile Apnoea is a condition when an infant “forgets” to breathe).
Hans Pietersen, the inventor, was inspired to design the monitor following the birth of his triplets. Born prematurely, his girl and two boys were each more susceptible to Infantile Apnoea. Hans could not find a suitable monitor, so he designed one himself!
The launch of the monitor follows 2 years of intensive testing and development by Hans who worked closely with mothers, midwives and paediatricians to perfect the design, features and safety of the unit.
