The latest arrival at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo is a total beginner, but just like the contestants on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing the newborn Przewalski foal is already finding his feet in the public arena
[UKPRwire, Tue Sep 29 2009] Born in the early hours of Tuesday 15th September, the foal is still sticking close beside mother Tuuli but can be seen wobbling around, trying to copy the other horses as they quick-step around the paddock.
Named Nuruu, after the Mongolian reserve where the wild horses have been re-introduced, he is a good size and enjoying his surroundings in his three acre paddock in the Asia drive through.
“He was up and about quite soon after being born and although he’s a bit wobbly on his feet he’s very bold too!” Deputy section head Veronica Watkins said.
Visitors can take a close-up look at the new foal from the viewing area close to the paddock or see him as they pass by on the Jumbo Express or by car in the drive through.
Keepers hope that very soon he will be hot to trot!
