Harpers magazine, the UK wine & spirit industry weekly, has appointed an Editorial Advisory Board, comprised of progressive leaders from across the trade.
[UKPRwire, Wed Mar 28 2007] Harpers magazine, the UK wine & spirit industry weekly, has appointed an Editorial Advisory Board, comprised of progressive leaders from across the trade. A full list of the Board will shortly be published, but the following gathered for the inaugural meeting held last week:
Michael Cox - UK Director, Wines of Chile;
20 years grounding at Matthew Clark, led to Michael establishing and heading Negociants UK through dynamic brand development in the 90s before being poached in 2003 by the Chileans to set up a UK office. Michael is also on the board of Trustees at WSET.
Ian Harris - Chief Executive, Wine & Spirit Education Trust
Probably best known for his work over the last 5 years in turning around the fortunes and increasing the industry relevance of WSET, as well as creating a permanent home for the WSET and other trade bodies, Ian nonetheless also brings with him 25 years of experience in Sales and Marketing within the Wine & Spirit Industry at Seagram and Waverley Vintners.
Vanessa Wright - Communications Director, Chivas Brothers
A communication force in the world of spirits, working for Chivas Brothers, the worlds no 2 scotch whisky company, part of Pernod Ricard (the worlds 2nd largest wine and spirit company); Vanessa has over 12 years of international experience in the drinks industry, covering Scotch, Irish and Bourbon.
Jeremy Beadles - Chief Executive, The Wine and Spirit Trade Association
The WSTA represents over 300 members across the entirety of the supply chain in the UK wine and spirit trade, where Jeremy helps to lead debate and campaign on industry issues. Jeremy also worked on Policy and Commerce at the British Retail Consortium before becoming their Managing Director.
Nick Dymoke Marr – Managing Director, Orbital Wines
A buyer at ASDA during the 1990s, Nick is now a keen champion of South African wines through his company Orbital Wines Ltd. An outspoken campaigner and innovative marketeer, Nick is favourite speaker at industry conferences. Nick is also the current Chairman of the Buddies of the Benevolent.
Brian Howard - Business development director, Wine Intelligence
Brian is a founder-director of Wine Intelligence and previously ran his own wine import/distribution business, thus has been at the heart of the industry, both UK and worldwide, for nearly 20 years. As a leading proponent of business decisions grounded in robust insight, Brian brings evidence-based judgment to the Editorial Board team.
Louise Steel - Wine category controller, Europe WaverleyTBS
Louise has 20 years of experience across the drinks industry, including Concha y Toro National on-trade WTBS, work as UK Sales Director at Lanson Champagne and time with Molson Breweries of Canada, Coca Cola & Schweppes Beverages.
Allen Gibbons, General Manager - Wines and Spirits Division - at parent company Nexus Business Media, spoke of the appointments;
“The Board will afford us insights into market activity and trends, debate ideas and forward ideas for features and news. It will be a powerful forum to help our drive for the re-launch of the magazine. Our new editor, Richard Siddle and I are delighted and grateful that these industry figures are taking their own time out to assist us in this mission.”
