Green buyers may affect sales in the future says National Homebuyers
Homeowners may struggle to make a fast property sale in the future as buyers become more environmentally conscious.
[UKPRwire, Fri Jan 11 2008] The Home Builders Federation (HBF) said that energy-saving features will begin to become more important to buyers in the future.
This could potentially spell disaster for anyone who cannot afford to update their property and may prevent them from being able to make a fast property sale.
"I think it will become a bigger concern, a bigger interest over time," commented John Slaughter, director of external affairs at the HBF.
"I think we have to assume that it will have some influence on perceptions of purchases.
"And obviously, if you go back to [the] point about hiking energy prices at the moment, then people will always take more notice of those things in that climate," he added.
One of the aims of Home information packs (Hips) is to raise awareness among homeowners about the environmental impact of their properties.
"Homesellers are now faced with buyers having access to such information that they can use to reduce their offer" says National Homebuyers director Julian King.
"Property prices are falling and the limited number of well informed buyers available are calling the shots".
National Homebuyers are the UK's leading quick sale property firm. They also provide a series of mortage rescue schemes such as Sell and Rent Back, where the homeowner can sell their property for cash, while remaining living in their home as a tenant.
