Property renovations are picking up in the UK market as the credit crisis worsens. Homeowners are still confident that by redecorating their homes, they can be worth more when put up for sale.
[UKPRwire, Fri Dec 12 2008] The latest figures from Simplyzigzag.com, Europe’s premium online estate agency, reveals that just under half of homeowners surveyed believe that decorating their living room first is more important than other parts of a home.
According to the poll which asked ‘what you would renovate first during this credit crisis’, 45% said their living room whilst the kitchen came in second place with 30% of the votes. In last place were the bedrooms, with a mere 5%.
Raya Mamarbachi, Director at Simplyzigzag.com, said:
“While the UK property market is in a state of constant flux with the media reporting different figures every week; much of the decline is related to consumer confidence, many of those selling believe that by renovating certain rooms they will get more for their property.”
Raya Mamarbachi adds:
“Redecorating does not have to be expensive. Little cosmetic changes such as repainting or re-carpeting can add a lot of value to a property. Regardless if an individual is on the property ladder or not, home improvements should always be a priority. Buyer’s prefer to snap up bargains where they don’t have to do too much renovation work.”
