National Homebuyers: 'Buyers not interested in Hips'

Home information packs (Hips) are being ignored by homebuyers, according to Knight Frank Winchester (KFW).

[UKPRwire, Tue Dec 04 2007] The firm says that people are not interested in the packs which will become a mandatory part of all home sales from December 14th.

Initially the packs were launched in August for properties with four or more bedrooms and then were expanded to include three-bed homes in September.

They cost the seller around £300 and KFW says that they are proving to be nothing more than a nuisance.

"When we show a property for sale with three or more bedrooms, we always make it clear that there is a Hip available, however people choose not to view them," said Tom Woods from the firm.

"It's staggering, but true," he added.

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors recently claimed that Hips will force first-time buyers out of the housing market.

"This is bad news if you are looking for someone to buy your property" says UK property expert Julian King.

"From mid-December, every homeowner will need to have a Hips pack in place in order to sell their property on the open market. With an average cost of £400, this is yet another hurdle for the homeseller to overcome.
