[UKPRwire, Thu Sep 20 2007] Ten teams of passionate golfers from leading conference centres around the country could not resist the chance to demonstrate their golfing prowess at the Conference Centres of Excellence (CCE) golf day. This annual event was held for the sixth consecutive year at Wyboston Lakes golf course.

The competition was played under a glorious sunny sky which made the Bombardier bus, supplied by Wells and Young’s Brewing Company and parked at the 10th tee, a welcome relief. The challenging but thoroughly enjoyable day was topped off with a gala dinner and prize-giving ceremony at Robinson Executive Conference Centre, with entertainment provided by Ashorne Hill Conference Centre’s own rock band, the P45’s.

Warwick University’s Scarman House scooped the top prize, with home team Wyboston Lakes coming a close second. Heading the individual prizes were Lee Folbigg from Wyboston Lakes and Janet Keene from the Scarman team who took the prizes for best male and female scores, with Stephen Quigley from Chartridge Conference Centre winning the prize for the longest drive.

Barry Stonham, operations director at Wyboston Lakes, was delighted with the successful day commenting, “We always enjoy hosting this event for our fellow conference centres. It was a superb day and the golf was played in the usual friendly yet competitive fashion. This is the third year running that Wyboston Lakes have been runners up, so the challenge is to head the honours list next year”.

Kay England, CCE chairman from Imago at Burleigh Court added, “Once again we were made very welcome. The course was in excellent condition and just as challenging as ever. Wyboston Lakes always do us proud, and we look forward to coming back again next year”.

The Waterfront Conference Centre, formerly known as The Lakes Centre, and The Willows, a specialist training centre, both provide superb facilities and service at very competitive rates.
