[UKPRwire, Wed Jul 11 2007] Wyboston Lakes has recently completed a major refurbishment and upgrading programme of its 18 hole golf course to make it one of the best golf venues in the UK for membership “pay and play”, golf societies and corporate golf days. This development is part of the ongoing multi-million pound investment across the whole site.

Thanks to favourable weather conditions this spring, the final stage of the refurbishment was completed ahead of schedule. This included construction of new tee boxes on the 1st and 10th holes and the creation of one of the largest bunkers in the area surrounding the 18th green.

Leisure services manager Dave Little commented, “Much of the work we have done will ensure that both lower handicap golfers and the social players find the course more challenging and rewarding. For example, we have reshaped some of the fairways to improve the approach to several of the holes and we have planted hundreds of semi-mature trees, whips, and small firs as part of the long term improvements to the course. We have also made considerable improvements to the existing tee boxes by moving them to bring more water into play, again providing a greater challenge for golfers. With water being a prominent feature at Wyboston Lakes, many of the banks have been landscaped right to the waters edge, creating a Floridian feel to the course.”

Further improvements to the facilities included the construction of new changing rooms and the pro shop in 2004. The shop has the most up-to-date computerised swing scanning technology to assist the three resident golf professionals headed by Paul Ashwell, England Junior Lead Coach, in helping players improve their game. The course also offers ‘Super Senior’ tees allowing golfers the chance to test their skill and enjoy their golf without the concern of long distance holes.

Dave continued, ”As well as our ‘pay and play’ customers and season ticket holders, we entertain more than 350 golf societies and corporate days at Wyboston Lakes. It’s vitally important to us that we continue to provide the best golfing facilities in the area to keep our loyal customers happy. “

With this in mind, the company has also made a significant investment into its welcoming 19th hole, The Waterfront Brasserie, which was awarded “Clubhouse of the Year” by Club Mirror Awards in 2006. Golfers can enjoy superb food here all day with panoramic views over the lakes and golf course.

With all of the recent improvements to the course and surrounding facilities, Wyboston Lakes has refurbished its ensuite accommodation and launched a number of Golf Break packages. These packages allow golfers from across the country the opportunity to experience the warm welcome, excellent food and superb facilities that have made this venue so popular with locals.
