3M Offers Solution for Strained Users of High Gloss Laptop Screens

3M today responds to health and safety concerns surrounding the use of high gloss laptop screens by recommending a reassuring, removable alternative for users

[UKPRwire, Tue Jun 30 2009] 3M, the diversified technology company, today responds to health and safety concerns surrounding the use of high gloss laptop screens by recommending a reassuring, removable alternative for users. Vikuiti Privacy Filters from 3M not only offer instant on-screen data security for laptop users while in public places but they also help increase user comfort by minimising reflections and glare.

According to an HR advisory from Queensland University of Technology (i), “Reflections and glare on high gloss monitor screens and their relation to the angle of the monitor screen, could cause the operator to adopt awkward postures when viewing the monitor screen and using related equipment. These reflections on the screen can be from internal and external sources such as the overhead lighting and/or position of windows.”

Fitting a Vikuiti Privacy Filter to a high gloss laptop screen can help reduce the potential for injury or anguish caused by uncomfortable user conditions. The filters have a thin, flexible yet hard-wearing construction enabling them to slot effortlessly over screens or be easily removed and stored when not required.

The patented 3M micro-louvre technology utilised in the filters means users can have comfort and privacy in one device. Anyone positioned to the side or looking over the user’s shoulder is restricted from seeing what is on the screen while the user has an unrestricted front view. The filters also feature Vikuiti Advanced Light Control Film with abrasion resistance on both sides.
