3M’s Innovative Projection Systems on Display at ISE 2008
3M will demonstrate the pulling power of its revolutionary in-window projection film at Integrated Systems Europe 2008
[UKPRwire, Mon Nov 19 2007] 3M, the diversified technology company, will demonstrate the pulling power of its revolutionary in-window projection film on Stand N112 at Integrated Systems Europe 2008. Visitors will see just how Vikuiti Rear Projection Film from 3M is able to revitalise window displays and enable them to become the centre of attraction in the high street. They will also be able to see how window interactivity allows passers-by the opportunity to learn more from the retailer at any time of day. An enhanced range of Vikuiti Super Close Projection products for interactive whiteboards will also be launched at the show, addressing projector safety and security issues, as well as the need for a more cost-effective approach to AV equipment in classroom and boardroom environments.
Vikuiti Rear Projection Film
Until recently, window displays in markets such as retail, betting, travel and banking have not been used to their full potential. They have been overshadowed by other technologies such as the internet, large screens and mobile messaging. With the introduction of Vikuiti Rear Projection Film and digital signage, designers are able to revitalise this media space and convey exciting dynamic messages about complex products to capture the attention of passers-by.
Vikuiti Film enables video, static images and dynamic messaging to be projected directly onto the surface of a window or glass partition. It offers crisp, high contrast image quality combined with 180 degree viewability so that images can be easily read from long distances and all angles, even in challenging lighting conditions. It can be cut to any desired shape and size, reflecting, for example, company logos and brands.
Visual Planet ViP Touch Foil
To add an interactive dimension for ISE visitors, a demonstration of Vikuiti Rear Projection Film combined with Visual Planet’s transparent ViP Touch Foils will be shown on the stand. The ViP interactive foil is applied directly to a piece of glass and then the Vikuiti Rear Projection film is applied over the touch foil. Computer-generated multimedia images are presented on the surface using 3M Digital Signage software and this content can be controlled by simply touching the front of the glass.
3M Digital Signage Software
3M’s advanced content and network management software will control content delivery to the display screens on the stand. The software offers the ability to change or update messages dynamically, and even to deliver different messages at different times of day to address changes in audience profile. It is compatible with popular multimedia file formats and offers the ability to divide screens into multiple content ‘zones’ as well as the easy incorporation of live data feeds such as weather or news reports. The software can also be readily used with Visual Planet’s Mini software to control the interactive aspects of the display.
Vikuiti Super Close Projection
3M will be launching next generation Digital Media System 800 and 700 Series devices that offer enhanced features and functionality for corporate and education applications. Shown alongside these new additions will be the DMS 810 Series, a wall-mounted projector featuring Vikuiti Super Close Projection and a built-in digital annotation pod to turn almost any surface into a digital whiteboard or large interactive computer display. An adjustable telescopic arm allows presenters to project images from a 60 inch to 85 inch diagonal, making it ideal for use within architecturally challenged environments. This design not only avoids difficult ceiling-mounted installation and eliminates any untidy cables, but also minimises lamp glare and shadow interference when the presenter is working in front of the screen.
In addition, 3M will exhibit its pioneering Digital WallDisplay Plus Series, an all-in-one projection system ideal for capturing and communicating vast and complicated quantities of information effectively. The system combines Vikuiti Super Close Projection, digital annotation and mouse control in a wall-mounted or rapidly deployable, mobile design. It features a video display for video conferencing, training or presentations, and picture-in-picture technology allows remote participants to view presentations while collaborating in real-time from almost anywhere in the world.
Digital Annotation and Collaboration
3M’s Digital Board DB578 will also be on display which enables educators and business professionals to project images onto a durable porcelain enamel surface, annotate over projected applications, and save written notes in a variety of electronic formats for instant distribution. Users simply connect to a computer via USB and the interactive electronic pen provides remote control of the PC mouse and applications.
