BETT 2008 Brings Exclusive Preview of 3M Modular Super Close Projection System

3M is offering the world’s first preview of the new generation of Vikuiti Super Close Projection Products at BETT 2008

[UKPRwire, Tue Jan 08 2008] 3M, the diversified technology company, is offering the world’s first preview of the new generation of Vikuiti Super Close Projection Products at BETT 2008. The modular system sets a new standard in image quality and price performance and gives users the flexibility to choose the level of functionality they require within their budget.

The new SCP712 projector from 3M Projection Systems features its best ever visual performance, delivering 2000 lumens across an image of up to 80” diagonal, with DLP technology to enhance colour rendition. A key innovation is the modular design of the system, allowing users to specify a simple, low cost data only projector or a high specification multimedia system depending on their needs and budget. An advanced option is the patented swinging arm, which allows the system to be safely and securely stowed and locked away when not in use. Previewed at BETT 2008, the SCP712 will be fully available during Q1 2008, at a highly competitive price point

Super Close Projection technology was pioneered by 3M, and first introduced in 2001. It had a profound impact on the AV industry for its ability to project large, brilliantly crisp images from incredibly short distances and extreme angles. Fundamental benefits include minimised lamp glare and shadow interference when users are working in front of the screen. 3M has used the technology as the basis for Digital Wall Displays with integral projectors, avoiding potentially difficult ceiling-mounted installation, eliminating untidy cables, minimising shadows and greatly reducing exposure to lamp glare for the presenter. The SCP712 represents the new generation of this technology. It was developed by 3M specifically for the education market through listening to the voice of its customers and responding with a new, improved system that reflected their needs.

The 3M stand at BETT will also feature the recently launched Digital Media System (DMS) 810 Series projector and the DB578 Digital Board. The DMS810 combines Vikuiti Super Close Projection technology with a built-in digital annotation pod to turn almost any surface into a digital whiteboard or large interactive computer display. Digital Board DB578 enables educators to project images onto a durable porcelain enamel surface, annotate over projected applications, and save written notes in a variety of electronic formats for instant distribution.

“With Decision Tree Consulting predicting that 48% of interactive whiteboards will have short throw projection integrated into them by 2011 , 3M is in a good position to maintain its technology and market advantage,” commented Paul Gardner, Sales and Marketing Manager, 3M Projection Systems. “Our length of experience in the industry and respected customer references, combined with our product development expertise, enables us to help education establishments and authorities to get the very best from their AV technology today and in the future.”
