Entry-level energy meter carries MID-certification
Carlo Gavazzi's latest MID-certified energy meter offers the industry's most cost-effective solution for single-phase applications where sub-metering is required
[UKPRwire, Mon Nov 05 2007] Carlo Gavazzi's latest MID-certified energy meter offers the industry's most cost-effective solution for single-phase applications where sub-metering is required. Fully certified in compliance with the MID (Measuring Instruments Directive) Annex MI-003, the EM10-DIN fulfils all the directive's accuracy, reliability and safety requirements, and has anti-tamper features enabling billing, cost allocation and sharing measurements to conform to EU and national regulations.
The main application for this single phase 32A unit is camp sites and marinas; the EM10 is ideal for fitting into the supply pedestals and such locations. Other potential applications include public buildings, apartment blocks, offices and light industrial units. The unit has also been used in individual energy metering pendants, where users want to allocate cost/bill individual loads such as PCs and photocopiers etc allowing you to look at energy savings within the office environment. The MID certification allows it to be used to charge individual home energy usage’s such as a small office – putting it directly onto your expense sheet! Housed in a space-saving 1-DIN module, (90x18x67mm) the EM10 is also ideally suited to small switch-gear applications.
The new kWh meters provide effective measurements with 5+1 digit resolution and Class B accuracy to EN50470-3 (class 1 EN62053-21). Display is through an LCD on the front panel, whilst optional pulse output enables the meter to interface with programmable controllers or BMS/BEMS. Pulse resolution of 1Wh is a further improvement over competing meters in its class.
Installation is quick and easy, with no programming required. The meter powers itself from a 230/120VAC supply, and can be connected directly to 32A circuits without the need for an external CT.
