[UKPRwire, Tue Nov 10 2009] The IT services provider, FDM Group, gets crowned “International Business of the Year” and “Best Employer in Sussex” at the Sussex Business Awards held at The Grand Hotel (Brighton) on Friday 6th November. Furthermore, Rod Flavell, Chief Executive Officer and founder of FDM, achieved the prestigious status of “Business Person of the Year”.

Rod Flavell’s successes are increasingly recognised nationally and internationally, having founded FDM almost 20 years ago. What once began as a small family-run business (born and bred in Sussex) has grown to become a successful international company, with offices in the UK, Europe and the USA.

A number of judges, sponsors and other contestants of the awards praised FDM for both its commercial and financial success, as well as commending the valuable contribution provided by FDM to the wider economy.

Despite the tough economic climate, FDM remains one of the top employers, helping to tackle the IT skills shortage worldwide. FDM runs a unique IT programme combining training and employment for 2.5% of the UK’s IT and numerical science graduates in the UK. The FDM Academy Programme is the longest running of its kind nationwide and has trained over 1500 graduates to date. Over 90% of FDM’s clients are international, including blue-chip operators in financial services, systems integration, telecommunications, media and broadcasting, retail, travel and transport.
