[UKPRwire, Tue Jun 03 2008] Milan-based venture capital investor ATMOS S.p.A. has acquired shares in EnOcean GmbH. ATMOS invests in companies active in the field of renewable energy and sustainable technologies (clean tech), and is the only Italian investor to fully concentrate on these two related segments.

Markus Brehler, CEO of EnOcean, comments: “ATMOS will support EnOcean in gaining a firm foothold in the Italian market through its expertise and excellent contacts with key decision-makers and financiers. Together we can intensively promote awareness of our technology and penetrate the market for energy-efficient buildings.”

In the space of three years, ATMOS has invested more than 50 million euro in renewable energy and the fast-growing clean tech segment. It has a diversified portfolio which includes European companies active in the photovoltaic, biofuels, wind, biogas, wave energy conversion and energy efficiency sectors.

Riccardo Cirillo, ATMOS’ investment manager, says: “EnOcean is an ideal fit for our portfolio. The company’s award-winning and innovative, self-powered wireless sensor technology is most definitely a prime example of the use of what's come to be called “energy harvesting”. It tackles the problem of energy efficiency in buildings at field level.”
