New Performance Enhanced Projection Systems Announced by 3M at BETT 2009
3M is showing its broad portfolio of products for the education sector at BETT 2009, 14-17 January, London’s Olympia, Stand E120
[UKPRwire, Tue Nov 04 2008] 3M, the diversified technology company, is showing its broad portfolio of products for the education sector at BETT 2009, 14-17 January, London’s Olympia, Stand E120. A new, performance enhanced modular projection system will be launched at the event as well as one of the first high brightness, DLP, short-throw, wall mounted projectors to enter the market. Also on the stand will be 3M’s innovative micro professional projector, short-throw projection systems for the modern classroom, computer privacy filters for e-assessments, and rear projection technology for digital signage in schools and colleges.
Short-throw Projection Systems
3M will be announcing its new modular projection system at BETT. The SCP716 has all the outstanding attributes as of the current SCP712 modular system plus enhanced features. These include 2400 lumens brightness, long lamp life of 5,000 hours, which significantly reduces cost of ownership, and DLP BrilliantColour technology for outstanding vibrant, rich colours.
3M’s SCP716 modular system scales from basic data projection up to a high specification multimedia solution, depending on customers’ specific needs and budgets. The system includes SCP716 projector, featuring revolutionary Vikuiti Super Close Projection technology from 3M, with fixed wall-mount, folding wall-mount without speakers, folding wall mount with speakers, I/O connection box and annotation pod as optional items.
Alongside the SCP716, 3M will show its new SCP717 desktop and wall mounted super close projector and SCP740 2600 lumens WXGA projector. The SCP717 is one of the first 3000 lumens, DLP, short-throw projectors on the market and is ideal for bright classroom environments in schools and colleges. The extreme off-axis short throw capability of the SCP717 replaces the need for traditional ceiling mount projectors and greatly reduces light shining in the teacher’s eyes. It has an integrated wind tunnel design to minimise heat and fan noise, it is highly portable and its fully integrated connectivity also makes it a perfect tabletop media hub.
In addition, the SCP740 high brightness, full connectivity, WXGA projector with short throw projection technology will be on show. The SCP740 is designed to match the increasingly bigger wider screen sizes of today’s laptops and to support popular video formats such as HDTV. As wide screen interactive whiteboards become more common, wide screen short throw projectors will become increasingly important for the education sector. Using Vikuiti Super Close Projection the SCP740 can project larger images from shorter distances (60 inch projection from 35 inches and 100 inch projection from 58.4 inches), which minimises shadowing and light in the teacher’s eyes.
MPro110 Micro Projector
Launched in October, 3M’s MPro110 micro professional projector is comparable to the size of a Smartphone, weighs just 152 grams and measures 115 x 50 x 22 mm. MPro110 is easily connected to a laptop for instant large screen projection on nearby flat surfaces such as walls or ceilings. Photos, video clips, presentations and other visual media can be projected from 5 inches up to 50 inches diagonal. The micro projector can also connect to a range of other digital applications such as multimedia mobile phones, iPods, digital cameras and games consoles.
MPro110 is ideal for busy professionals in the education sector who deliver a lot of presentations but do not want to carry bulky desktop projectors around with them. It is particularly useful for impromptu ideas sharing with staff and colleagues. Equipment hire and availability hassles can be avoided, and crowding uncomfortably round a laptop in confined classrooms or meeting spaces need no longer be an issue.
Vikuiti Privacy Filters
3M’s computer privacy filters will be on the stand demonstrating their ability to help improve student privacy and academic integrity during e-examinations. Vikuiti Privacy Filters simply attach to the monitor of the computer, and can be readily removed and stored when not required. Using the filters enables far more efficient utilisation of computing and staff resources by allowing more students to sit e-exams simultaneously. It also eliminates the need for partitions or the other security measures specified in section 5.14 of the 2008 Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) standards for conducting e-examinations.
Vikuiti Rear Projection Film
Also on the stand will be the revolutionary and highly versatile Vikuiti Rear Projection Film capable of transforming a window or glass panel into a vibrant digital screen by enabling video, static images and dynamic messaging to be projected directly onto its surface.
Unlike other window display systems, Vikuiti Film offers crisp, high contrast image quality combined with a wide viewing angle of 180 degrees. It is also the only film that can be effectively viewed in daylight and in bright ambient light locations. The flexibility of Vikuiti Film means it can be cut to any desired shape and size. It is also lightweight, easy to install and can be applied to rigid clear acrylic panels to create easily-portable displays.
