SOFTLINK COMMISSIONS RESEARCH INTO LIBRARIANS’ ROLE IN KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT
Library and knowledge management system specialist, Softlink Europe, has commissioned further research into external and internal information managed by librarians in the corporate sector. Gathering, organising, storing and sharing information and knowledge assets from within and outside the organisation is a core element of knowledge management. The paper will be launched at the Softlink stand no. 626 at the Library + Information Show in April 2006.
[UKPRwire, Tue Mar 14 2006] To take part in the research, please contact research@theansweruk.com or telephone 0208 655 0953 before the end of March.
Director of Softlink Europe, Iain Dunbar, explains, “Softlink has an active programme of research and development and we want to ensure that our development pipeline matches the future requirements of our customers. We are also keen to ensure that our existing products meet current demands and regularly seek feedback from our customers via direct communication such as user groups and one-to-one visits. The research will complement this by enabling us to gather views from a cross-section of corporate librarians across the charity, health and legal sectors.”
ECO Animal Health uses Softlink’s Liberty3 fully web-based library and knowledge management system. Bert Washington started at ECO Animal Health in January 2005 in the newly created post of information manager. He explains, "I saw the post as a very exciting challenge, devised to help ECO manage and maintain the company's core resource more efficiently. I work within the regulatory department but plan to extend the usefulness of the knowledge management system company-wide in due course. ECO is a rapidly expanding company and we see the knowledge management system as key to keeping our staff updated on new developments and to offer them easier access to information from any of our offices around the world.” The system includes data on traditional library catalogue resources such as books but also includes .pdf and Excel documents, websites and e-journals.
