USRobotics Launches VLAN-ready Courier Smart Switches for Business Networking Solutions
New Gigabit and PoE Smart Switches expand company’s range of professional networking and storage solutions

These switches are optimised to support Virtual LAN (VLAN) implementation, particularly for wireless network solutions, delivering high performance, reliability and easy, intuitive management.
The Courier Smart Switch range comprises three Gigabit switches giving 16, 24, and 48-ports, and a 24-port 10/100 Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch with two additional Gigabit ports.
According to USRobotics, the Courier Smart Switches enable easy implementation of VLANs across wired and wireless networks. The integration of the switches (supporting Packet 802.1Q) and the USR805453A Professional access point (supporting multiple Virtual APs) enables a single network to transport VLANs efficiently.
The switches also support access to common resources at up to 4Gbps. With the implementation of port trunking, groups of ports can be combined to create high speed interconnects between banks of switches and routers, or to access high performance servers.
Network expansion is also catered for with the support of cascading. Since networks have differing requirements, multiple methods are available for this function (single Gig Ethernet, mini-GBIC modules for fibre and multiple ports via port trunking)
The Gigabit Courier Smart Switches provide the speed for distributing the largest files (such as ultra-high resolution images and digital video) around networks, and support Quality of Service to ensure that delay-sensitive data (such as VoIP traffic) is prioritised. Auto-sensing support for 10/100/1000Mbps on each port maintains existing network investments,
The PoE Courier Smart Switch provides both data connectivity and DC power for up to 24 Ethernet devices. The switch is ideal for connecting 802.3af compliant devices such as Wireless Access Points and IP Phones to networks without the need to add new electrical outlets. The PoE switch also includes 4 Gigabit ports and two mini-GBIC ports for uplinks and extending network range.
