118 trades prepares to challenge BT with local memorable numbers
Daniel Corby CEO 118 trades, the fast growing internet and business services operation is ready to challenge BT by offering memorable local telephone numbers
[UKPRwire, Mon Dec 04 2006] Speaking about the announcement, Daniel Corby said “118 Group has experienced rapid growth over the last 12 months and a key part of that growth has been through 118telecom, our telecom offering of memorable 0800, 0808, 0845 and 0870 numbers. We are now delighted to have secured 300,000 local memorable numbers, for example 01245 83 83 83. This local number offering now covers 300 UK towns and we’ll actually have greater search ability than BT. If you call BT yourself trying to buy a memorable number, you’ll appreciate what limited search ability they actually have.
The numbers will be marketed through direct mail and telesales from the centres in Chelmsford and India.
The opportunity for memorable numbers is massive, with taxi companies, hotels, mobile phone retailers, pizza stores and a while host of local businesses clamouring to have a memorable number.
118 Group Holdings plc now has interests including Advertising, Directories, Media, Mobile, Publishing and Telecoms and has further product launches planned for the immediate future.
Daniel Corby continued “The group is now starting to think and act like a plc ahead of the planned float and has recently made some high profile appointments including business veteran Richard Allan, the former CEO of Perry Group plc as Chairman, Hugh Craen, the founder and mastermind of Potential Finance Group plc which floated on AIM in 2002. Hugh joins the business as a non executive director, Peter Hill as Group FD, who joins from Dorma Door Controls Limited, Scott Barker as Head of Risk, previously from World Pay and Meta Charge. In addition, Ian McLachlan, the recently retired head of Trading Standards of Hertfordshire, who has become Head of Ethics for the business and will oversee the way the business manages relationships with shareholders, staff, customers and suppliers. The business is also talking to a previous Director of Yell Group plc with regards to a directorship at the group. More details will be announced shortly”
