[UKPRwire, Sat Aug 19 2006] The UK Mobile Phone Throwing Championships take place on Sunday 20th August, 2pm-7pm at Tooting Bec Athletics Track. The time has come to get your revenge on annoying ringtones, poor reception and confusing gadgetry - the UK Mobile Phone Throwing Championships come to London on Sunday 20th August.
The event, organised by 8th Day UK Adventure Sports Club and sponsored by ActionAid Recycling, will take place at Tooting Bec Athletics Track between 2pm and 7pm.
The entry fee for people wanting to compete is £5, and you can turn up and pay on the day.
Last year the Women's World Record was briefly broken at the event (beaten in the World Championships a week later), so be ready for stiff competition.
As well as throwing phones, you can bring along your old unwanted handsets or collect freepost bags at the event to send phones to ActionAid Recycling for recycling. All phones received from the event (either by hand or in person) will be entered into a draw to win an exclusive prize - details will be available at the venue on the day.
