THE MAYNARD FAMILY VALUES GIVE BAKEWELL SHOW A BOOST

It’s a case of hold the front page in Grindleford next week as highly acclaimed Peak District hotel and restaurant The Maynard plays host to several newspaper editors from around the UK (and Europe too!), all in aid of promoting family breaks with children in the Peak District.

[UKPRwire, Mon Aug 02 2010] The editors have been invited to the region by Visit Peak District with the intention of showing them the highlights of this year’s Bakewell Show (4-5 August), but also with the more serious message of promoting the Peak District itself as the perfect tourist destination and the ideal place for a family break.

“We are proud to be welcoming these editors to the Maynard and helping Visit Peak District in promoting not just the Bakewell Show but the benefits of our region as a whole,” said Paul Downing, managing director at The Maynard and sister venue Whirlowbrook Hall, “The Bakewell Show remains one of the best events of its kind in the UK and hopefully we will have the chance to showcase to the visiting editors the merits of the Peak District as a family holiday destination.”

As part of the family agenda of the visit, several of the editors will also be bringing their families along with them for the duration of the Bakewell Show, giving them the opportunity to see for themselves what makes the region so attractive.

The current itinerary will see the editors given a tour of the Bakewell Show on the 4 August, where they will be welcomed by the deputy chief executive of Visit Peak District David Thornton before having the opportunity to see the show. The evening will culminate in a three course gourmet dinner at the Maynard, hosted by David James, Chief Executive of Visit Peak District.

On the following day, editors with young families are being treated to a tour of Chatsworth, including the farmyard and adventure playground, while those with older children will have the opportunity to be taken on a guided walk from The Maynard, taking in some of the highlights of the Peak District and the spectacular countryside and scenery within walking distance of The Maynard.

“They Maynard has always been a magnet for walkers and even more so since we developed a range of ‘George’s Walks’ in conjunction with local guide Sally Mosley but the close proximity of Chatsworth means The Maynard is also perfectly placed for the regions major attractions” continued Paul, “This whistle-stop tour should hopefully give the editors a real taste of Bakewell tarts, trails and tourism while they are with us!”

The Maynard is one of only a few restaurants in the whole of South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire to boast two AA rosettes and a major refurbishment in 2007/2008, transformed the Victorian building into the perfect contemporary venue.
