[UKPRwire, Tue Dec 30 2008] While there's talk of the nay-cation in the US, as people put off travel plans due to the unknown effects of the recession, for British travellers 2009 could well be the year of the the neigh-cation.
Fluctuating currency exchange rates might cause people to rethink their choice of destination next year, especially with sterling dropping sharply against the dollar, however, according to Ranch Rider, US ranch stays will buck the trend in the recession.
Tony Daly, Managing Director of Ranch Rider, comments: “Of course, in 2009 people will be considering currencies and how they can make the most of their hard earned cash, however, they’ll also be looking for value for money holidays which don’t have hidden costs once they reach their chosen destination. Ranch stays, especially in the guest and working sector, are normally full-board and inclusive of ranch based activities – a comforting thought for cash strapped travellers.”
Despite the current climate Ranch Rider remains bullish, the tour operator seeing renewed interest in the US after the recent Obama win. A spokesperson from ABTA also recently stated that a holiday – and in particular travelling abroad – is regarded by Britons as "an essential rather than a luxury."
Tony Daly, comments: “You have to remember that people are not simply buying holidays, they are buying into an experience, and cost is still only one factor."
Proof that the company means business, the 2009 brochure will see the launch of nine new experiences, including an exclusive pack trip with the Real Bird Tribe in Montana and reenactment of Custer's Last Stand from the Native American perspective. (June 20th – 27th) 7-nights with Ranch Rider from £1,135pp. The price includes all full board accommodation, gratuities, transfers, all riding and activities. International return flight from £536pp (including all known taxes and fuel surcharges). Alternative dates (8-nights): June 27th – July 5th. The latter trip also includes the July 4th Independence Day Rodeo at Red Lodge and a chance to ride in the parade, party and fireworks.
The advice is to book early when it comes to ranch stays, as while special promotions run from Spring to Autumn, most offers will be available at the beginning of the year and working ranches, which tend to have lower capacity than other properties, will get snapped up quick. Ranch Rider has also forward bought the majority of its USA & Canada currency, allowing the tour operator to offer excellent rates - but again Daly says, "it's wise to book well ahead."
