Unrivalled adventures in Africa

Acacia Adventure Holidays launches three new small group adventures in the company's 2007 brochure

[UKPRwire, Thu Feb 01 2007] Acacia Adventure Holidays is best known for its breathtaking overland adventures running through the heart of Africa, but the 2007 brochure sees the development of three new small group adventure tours. The specialist operator has made the most of the recent relaxed visa requirements into Mozambique with two of the company’s new tours, ‘Kruger to Cape Town’ and ‘Kruger Mozambique and Durban’ delving into this storybook Africa destination. Previously, travellers were required to obtain visas back home in the UK, but now applications can be processed directly on the border with easy access via the Kruger National Park. The new Coast to Cape Town tour also presents a different view of South Africa, heading away from the more usual tourist spots to backpacker havens and eco-friendly locations.

Heath Ashcroft, Marketing Manager at Acacia Adventure Holidays comments: “Small group tours are increasingly popular as they allow people to travel to more remote areas - the intimate size of the group being preferable to some travellers. It’s also easy to arrange optional activities on tour and there’s minimal impact on the environment.”

Coast to Cape Town has some breathtaking scenery, with the tour following the Wild Coast from Durban along the famed Garden Route, ending in cosmopolitan Cape Town. Underdeveloped, the rugged Wild Coast is home to the Xhosa people, a tribe rich in tradition and custom, and the tranquil backpacker haven of Cinsta – a sleepy seaside town bursting with beach based adventure. Addo Elephant Park marks the beginning of the journey along the Garden Route before the ocean calls travellers back; Tsitskamma’s unspoilt coastline harbour providing the ultimate in marine and birdlife viewing, and added adrenalin, this being the location for the highest bungy jump in existence. Acacia’s adventure continues in Knysna, a natural playground for thrill seekers, offering high speed mountain biking through the indigenous forests or kite surfing on the lagoon. Ostrich viewing (and possible riding!) in Oudtshroon and the Cango Caves all make for an action packed tour before welcome respite in Cape Town, where travellers can kick back and explore its award winning wineries. Acacia Adventure Holidays 7-day Coast to Cape Town small group adventure tour costs £495pp (+ local payment USD $240pp (approx. £123pp)) with year round departures.

Most adventure travel tours heading from Johannesburg to Durban tend to take their route through South Africa itself but Acacia’s new Kruger, Mozambique and Durban tour allows adventurers to see another side to this diverse continent, with the inclusion of not just Mozambique but also Swaziland. The tour incorporates the exotic city of Maputo, Mozambique’s capital, a cultural melting pot of Afro and Portuguese cultures filled with bars, markets, restaurants and vibrant nightlife. Milwane National Park in Swaziland is another highlight this being one of the few areas where guests can stay surrounded by Africa’s abundant wildlife, antelope and zebra grazing right outside the adventurers tent. The trip ends with a morning game drive into Hluhluwe, the oldest game reserve in South Africa, and an afternoon in the seaside playground of Durban. Acacia Adventure Holidays 7-day Kruger, Mozambique and Durban small group adventure tour costs £495pp (+ local payment USD $295pp (approx. £151pp)) with year round departures.

Kruger to Cape Town is an unrivalled 14-day itinerary combining the two new small group adventure tours above. The tour costs £975pp (+ local payment $535pp (approx. £273pp)) and runs from Johannesburg, taking in Mozambique and Swaziland en route to cosmopolitan Cape Town. Departures are year round.

The above prices include transport, road tolls and taxes, camping and cooking equipment, most meals and services of tour leader/driver (no single supplement). Excludes return international flight, visas, departure taxes, transfers and optional activities.
