WATERSCAPE.COM REFLOATS…helping people discover their local canal or river

British Waterways has relaunched its consumer website www.waterscape.com, the official online guide to all Britain’s canals, rivers and lakes.

[UKPRwire, Wed Nov 21 2007] British Waterways has relaunched its consumer website www.waterscape.com, the official online guide to all Britain’s canals, rivers and lakes. The site, which features over three quarters of a million pages of information, was originally launched in 2003 but has now been refreshed with some exciting new features, including a postcode search for people to find their nearest canal or river and lists of local waterside pubs and eateries.

Nicky Ross, Waterscape.com Manager, explains: “We’ve relaunched with a fresh look and improved functionality. Half of Britain’s population lives within five miles of one of our waterways which offer fantastic places to exercise, watch wildlife, take a boat trip, go fishing or visit a waterside pub. The new Waterscape.com will make it easier for people to find out where their local canal or river is and how they can use it as part of their everyday lives. It is easier to navigate and includes a quick search to help people find activities, listings and services in their local area, plus interactive maps.”

People can use Waterscape.com to:
• search for their local canal, river or lake using their postcode
• drill down on interactive maps to get street level views of their local canals, rivers and lakes
• find a list of local waterside pubs and eateries
• locate boat hire companies
• choose from hundreds of walking routes
• find alternative traffic–free cycle routes along hundreds of miles of towpath and download a free cycle permit
• search for places to go fishing
• get advice on how to buy a boat
• find out about waterway wildlife to spot
• choose from hundreds of places to take the family for days out by the water
• find out the history of their local waterway
