Toolstop Helps Haiti Charity

Published: Fri Feb 26 2010

Online power tool supplier,, recently held a number of events and fundraisers to help the survivors of the terrible earthquakes in Haiti.

Managing Director at Toolstop, Calum Kegg, was looking on in disbelief at the news reports of the earthquakes in Haiti and decided that he could not just sit back and watch without doing what he could to help.

Right away he decided that he wanted to get Toolstop involved in whatever it took to raise as much money as possible for the relief efforts. The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) was the charity of choice and Toolstop ended up donating a respectable 4456.00 ($6771.82). Read on to see how they did it.

First of all a charity event was held for all Toolstop employees, friends, family, suppliers and customers. The aim was to complete a lap of the loch at Strathclyde Country Park in Hamilton, close to the Toolstop Head Office. Scores of people turned up and more than 200 laps were completed. Some people walked, some of them jogged, some were on a bike and some people even went round in wheelchairs. 5 was donated for every lap completed.

Then, Toolstop donated 10 for every one of their top 10 selling products on their website sold between the 23rd January and the 7th of February 2010. This raised a phenomenal amount of money for the charity.

Finally, 10% of the takings from the recent Scottish Caravan and Outdoor Leisure Show were donated to the appeal.

Toolstop has shown that it can step up to the mark when there is a country in need and the plan is to continue supporting charities and people in need.

Toolstop is an online supplier of power tools and related products to end users and large organizations which has been established for 45 years.
