The event started at 7.00 pm and was organised by Barry Stonham, operations director at Wyboston Lakes. Over the course of four hours, 26 teams were asked 150 questions by experienced quizmaster Barry Stonham. He tested their knowledge on sport, geography, music, Shakespeare and lots more besides.

The winning team, ‘Key of the Door’ was closely followed by ‘Return of the Curlews’ in second place and ‘Podgey’s Nostril’ came a respectable third. The evening was an opportunity for participants to meet, catch up with the local news, hone their general knowledge and have an enjoyable time while boosting the local good causes with a total amount of £1,340.

The money raised through the evening will help to facilitate urgent repairs to the Eynesbury church roof and improve MAGPAS’ two lifesaving schemes: the emergency medical team and the community first responder operating in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Barry Stonham said: "Our first fundraising event of the year got off to an excellent start. These events and the substantial sums of money they raise are only possible because of the continuous support that we receive from the community. From the proceeds of the evening we will be donating £670.00 each to MAGPAS and the Eynesbury Church Roof Appeal. We have been carrying out these quiz nights for the last six years and have raised in excess of £20,000."

The next quiz night will take place in late summer.
