Dell KACE today announced that the Atrium Underwriting Group Limited, a leading specialist insurer at Lloyd’s of London, has deployed a Dell KACE appliance to automate its patch management and application deployment. Following the deployment, Atrium has saved hundreds of hours of staff time and achieved payback within six months. IT staff no longer have to spend their weekends and evenings updating applications to avoid disrupting the working day, and are able to spend their time on tasks that provide more value back to the business.

George Stylli, IT systems manager at Atrium, is responsible for the company’s IT assets across the network. He was looking to improve the management of patching across the organisation, from application updates through to operating system patches and the rollout of new desktop images.

"For us, the KACE appliances represented the best approach to our patch management issues," explained Stylli. "With the KACE management appliance, we can deploy an application or send out a patch from a central point in minutes, compared to the hours of staff time that would otherwise be consumed in a roll-out. We can ensure that each desktop has its applications installed in a uniform way, making support for issues easier in the future. Overall, the KACE appliances have paid for themselves many times over - they make managing the IT infrastructure at Atrium easier, while we as a team can concentrate on delivering more value to the business."

Jim Docherty, managing director EMEA at Dell KACE, commented, "Many organisations do not have a process in place for patch management and this can result in huge amounts of time being spent on tasks which can be automated. Over the years, IT has expanded and become such a fundamental part of the business, companies now have a multitude of applications to manage and keeping them up to date can be extremely time consuming. KACE’s appliance-based approach makes the management of these applications simpler, and creates more time for IT teams to look at ways of being innovative."

Systems administrators are increasingly forced to support multiple technologies and systems throughout the business and work on a myriad of IT functions. With the Dell KACE family of management appliances, organisations enjoy affordable, comprehensive systems management that fulfills their IT management needs, from initial computer deployment to ongoing management and retirement. Whatever size of company, Dell KACE appliances save administrators time and their organisations money.
